Melt Processing Guidelines & Key Applications
01. High-Speed Melt Extrusion
Extruder L/D & Temperature
Due to its lower viscosity, PFA C410 can be processed faster than lower-MFR PFA grades. Recommended barrel length-to-diameter (L/D) ratio is 20:1 to 25:1 to heat the resin to approximately 400 °C (752 °F).
02. Injection & Blow Molding
Complex Shapes & Linings
Readily processed by traditional injection molding, compression, transfer, and blow molding techniques. Excellent melt flow enables void-free filling of intricate molds and thin profiles.
03. Tooling Metallurgy
Corrosion-Resistant Alloys
Corrosion-resistant high-nickel alloys (such as Hastelloy® or Inconel®) must be used for all barrels, screws, and tooling contacting molten resin at elevated temperatures.
