Everflon+™ CF4622 · Design Potential

Make room for
better cable design.

Cellular insulation introduces a new set of variables for balancing electrical behavior, material use and cable geometry.

01 · ELECTRICAL DESIGN

Explore lower effective permittivity.

Introducing gas-filled cells into an insulating polymer can lower its effective permittivity. Evaluate capacitance, impedance and signal behavior in the complete cable construction.

02 · MATERIAL EFFICIENCY

Evaluate material use.

A lower-density insulation structure can reduce polymer mass at a given insulation volume. Actual material savings depend on foam density, wall thickness, yield and design requirements.

03 · STRUCTURAL BALANCE

Engineer the right balance.

Cell distribution, insulation thickness and any solid skin influence mechanical and electrical performance. Optimize these variables together during extrusion trials.

These are development opportunities associated with cellular insulation. CF4622-specific performance must be established through material and cable testing.

Everflon+™ CF4622 · Foaming Concept

From pellets.
To cellular structure.

Chemical foaming generates gas within a polymer melt through an activated foaming formulation. Extrusion conditions influence how cells form and stabilize.

01 · PREPARE

Define the material setup.

Confirm whether the supplied CF4622 formulation is used directly or blended. Use the grade-specific technical guidance to establish feed preparation and any required addition rate.

02 · DEVELOP

Coordinate melt and foaming.

Match the formulation’s activation behavior with melt temperature, residence time and pressure. The processing window must be established for the supplied grade and extrusion line.

03 · STABILIZE

Control the final structure.

Die geometry, drawdown, line speed and cooling affect the insulation dimensions and cellular structure. Check cross-sections and measured density throughout the trial.

The diagram and process description explain the general chemical foaming concept; they do not specify CF4622 composition or machine settings.

Built around
the signal path.

Potential development areas for foamed FEP insulation. Qualification depends on the selected construction and its measured performance.

DATA CABLE DEVELOPMENT

Twisted-pair insulation.

Evaluate cellular insulation for data cable designs where capacitance, impedance, concentricity and pair-to-pair consistency are key development targets.

RF & COAXIAL DEVELOPMENT

Coaxial dielectric layers.

Explore cellular dielectric structures for selected coaxial designs. Verify dimensional stability, impedance, attenuation and conductor-to-insulation adhesion requirements.

SPECIALTY WIRE DEVELOPMENT

Compact insulation concepts.

Assess foamed insulation where polymer mass and wall geometry are design variables. Establish mechanical, thermal and electrical suitability for the intended service conditions.

Application descriptions are evaluation directions, not confirmed approvals for a particular cable category, frequency range or installation environment.

Everflon+™ CF4622 · Extrusion Development

Precision starts
with the process.

A structured trial links the material formulation to the target cable geometry and performance.

01 · SET THE TARGET

Define the cable requirements.

Record conductor size, finished insulation diameter, wall thickness, density target and electrical requirements before establishing a trial plan.

02 · BUILD THE WINDOW

Tune the extrusion line.

Use CF4622-specific guidance to coordinate temperature profile, screw speed, melt pressure, tooling, drawdown and cooling. Reassess the window when geometry or throughput changes.

03 · VERIFY THE RESULT

Measure the complete construction.

Inspect cellular structure, density, diameter and concentricity. Test the finished cable against its electrical, mechanical and application requirements.

Everflon+™ CF4622 · Questions & Answers

Clear answers.
Better decisions.

Essential questions for selecting and evaluating chemical foaming FEP pellets.

What is Everflon+ CF4622?

Everflon+ CF4622 is a chemical foaming FEP material supplied in pellet form, intended for evaluating cellular FEP insulation in wire and cable development.

How does chemical foaming differ from physical foaming?

Chemical foaming generates gas through an activated formulation in the polymer melt. Physical foaming introduces a gas through a separate processing system. Material selection and equipment requirements depend on the specific formulation and line configuration.

Can CF4622 be used directly without blending?

Confirm the supplied formulation with Everflon before setting up production. Direct-use instructions, any blend ratio and feed preparation requirements must come from the current CF4622 technical guidance.

What foaming level or dielectric constant can be achieved?

These values depend on formulation, processing conditions and the resulting cellular structure. Obtain grade-specific data and verify the target insulation construction through extrusion trials and electrical testing.

Does the material automatically qualify a cable for plenum use?

No. Suitability for a regulated cable application must be supported by relevant material documentation and finished-cable testing. Request current evidence for the intended market and cable construction.
