Fabrication Guidelines
Rotational Molding & Rotolining Parameters
Recommended thermal cycles and mechanical rotation speeds for bubble-free lining of 2.3 mm (0.090 in) thickness.
STEP 01
Substrate Grit Blasting
Remove scratches and burrs. Grit blast interior metal surfaces (e.g., 24-grit aluminum oxide for mild steel) to maximize anchor patterns and lining uniformity.
STEP 02
Venting & Charging
Charge ~360 g/ft² (0.80 lb/ft²) of powder for a 2.3 mm lining. Install vent tubes stuffed with glass wool to prevent internal pressure buildup and exclude contaminants.
STEP 03
Biaxial Rotation Speeds
Apply conventional rotation ratios: 8 rpm major / 9 rpm minor for pipes, tees, and spool pieces; 8 rpm major / 10 rpm minor for spherical bodies.
STEP 04
Ambient Air Cooling
Cool using ambient air to allow the molten ETFE resin to solidify and densify uniformly, creating an integral protective lining. Disassemble hot molds only in ventilated areas.
Typical Minimum Time / Temperature for Bubble-Free Linings (2.3 mm / 0.090 in):
282°C (540°F)
100 min
288°C (550°F)
60 min
293°C (560°F)
