Engineering Breakthroughs

Built for Speed, Long Lengths, and Extreme Ratios.

Everflon™ PTFE F2000 expands the processing envelope, delivering flawless output even at the upper reduction threshold.

Extended Window

Broad RR Span (250:1 to 5000:1)

Enlarges the operational window over ultra-high reduction ratios. Enables products typically limited to small-bore machines to be run on larger extruders for higher output per batch.

Efficiency

Single Lubricant Level (16%)

Extrudes into wire across a 1000:1–5000:1 reduction range using a uniform 16% lubricant level while keeping extrusion pressure low, streamlining mixture preparation for multiple constructions.

Continuity

Long Flawless Run Lengths

Superior transformation characteristics translate directly into increased line speed and significantly longer continuous wire or tubing runs without structural defects.

Dielectric Quality

Stable High-Frequency Insulation

Exceptional dielectric properties stable across wide frequency and temperature spans, ensuring minimal signal attenuation in aerospace data links and subminiature cables.

Thermal Scope

-240°C to +260°C Operating Span

Retains toughness and flexibility from cryogenic temperatures (-400°F) up to elevated continuous service ratings of 260°C (500°F).

Compliance

FDA 21 CFR 177.1550 Certified

Properly processed and sintered articles qualify for food contact compliance under FDA 21 CFR 177.1550 and European Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011.

Engineering Protocol

Recommended Processing & Operating Guidelines.

Optimized step-by-step processing parameters to achieve high line speeds and defect-free extrusion runs.

Step 01

Compounding & Preforming

Blend with a liquid lubricant aid (such as odorless isoparaffin/naphtha). Compress into a cylindrical preform slug under light pressure between 1.5–2.0 MPa (220–290 psi) to ensure uniform air evacuation.

Step 02

High-Speed Ram Extrusion

Extrude through polished dies across reduction ratios up to 5000:1. For RR 1000:1–5000:1, a single lubricant level of ~16% is recommended to maintain low extrusion pressure.

Step 03

Lubricant Removal (Drying)

Evaporate the processing aid completely in-line or batchwise by heating in the range of 100°C–300°C (212°F–572°F) prior to entering the sintering stage to prevent micro-voiding.

Step 04

Gel-State Sintering

Sinter the resin above its melting point at approximately 342°C (648°F) to melt-coalesce the fibrous structure into a dense, void-free, fully solid PTFE profile.

Plant Engineering Recommendation: Equipment Scale-Up Advantage

Due to the ultra-high reduction ratio capability of Everflon™ PTFE F2000 (up to 5000:1), constructions previously restricted to small-bore extruders can now be shifted to larger-bore machinery. This enables larger preform charges, significantly higher output per cycle, and longer single-run lengths of wire or tubing without tool reconfiguration.

Resin Care & Handling

Sub-19°C (66°F) Storage & Anti-Shear Protocol

PTFE fine powders are highly sensitive to irreversible shear damage prior to paste extrusion. Fibrillated particles resulting from mechanical shock appear as surface flaws or breakdown points in finished wire insulation.

  • Store drums below 19°C (66°F) to minimize sensitivity to mechanical compaction and shock during storage.
  • Gently screen compacted powder through a 2 to 4.76 mm sieve (4 to 10 mesh) below 19°C before blending with lubricant.
  • Maintain cleanroom dew-point controls to prevent moisture condensation on chilled resin during the preforming process.
