PTFE FINE POWDER F1000
Get to Know Everflon™ PTFE Fine Powder F1000
Everflon™ PTFE F1000 is a polytetrafluoroethylene fine powder resin used primarily for paste extrusion. Everflon™ PTFE F1000 is designed for processing at medium to high reduction ratios (250:1 to 1000:1). It is particularly suitable for production of wire coating, jacketing, and tubing at fast sintering rates.
Typical Applications
It is mainly used for wire and cable insulation and tubes with thin wall tubing, such as spaghetti tubing.
Processing Guide
Everflon™ PTFE F is extruded using a liquid processing aid such as naphtha. In the paste extrusion process, the powder is mixed with a lubricant aid and then compressed into a cylindrical preform slug under light pressure (1.5–2.0 MPa [220–290 psi]). The preform slug is placed in the cylinder of a paste extruder, where the composition is forced under high pressure through a finishing die to produce beading, tubing, or wire coatings.
After extrusion, the product is a low-density, but coherent, fibrous structure. After removal of the lubricant by heating within the range of 100–300 °C (212–572 °F), the extrudate can be either sintered above its melting point of around 345 °C (653 °F) to produce a void-free PTFE article or calendered and stretched to produce unsintered or semisintered articles.
Precaution
Equipment used to process at melt temperatures should be provided with local exhaust ventilation (LEV) to completely remove all fumes and vapors from the processing area. In addition, care should be exercised to avoid the contamination of cigarettes and other forms of smoking tobacco when using fluoroplastic resins. Before processing any fluoroplastics, read the Material Safety Data Sheet.
Handing & Package
Everflon™ PTFE F resin is packaged in 20-kg plastic containers. For convenient shipment, orders of 800-kg pallets (40 drums) are recommended.
