Cathay™ FEP Film
Get to Know Cathay™ FEP Fluoropolymer Films
Cathay™ FEP films are transparent, thermoplastic and can be heat sealed, thermoformed, vacuum formed, heat bonded, welded, metalized, laminated, and combined with dozens of other materials. They can also be used as an excellent hot-melt adhesive. FEP films offer high chemical resistance; heat resistance; good dielectric properties; mechanical toughness, and long-time weatherability. of Everflon™ PFA.
Cathay™ FEP films offer excellent chemical resistance and release properties and can also be easily fabricated. Compared to PFA, FEP films are lower in cost and temperature and have a low dielectric constant and dissipation with a continuous use temperature of 205°C and are suitable for use in cryogenic and high-temperature applications .
Typical applications for Cathay™ FEP films are in solar collector windows, in pharmaceutical packaging; sealing of PTFE-coated fabrics; antigraffiti coverings; protection against extreme corrosion, fading or cracking; as mold release in aircraft industry; in printed circuit board manufacture; as autoclavable storage bags or liners; as lens covers, and in electret condenser microphone.
Techyours™ FEP Film Offers

Cathay™ FEP Film S Grade
This film grade utilizes the low dielectric constant and dissipation over a wide range of temperatures and frequencies for low-signal distortion and attenuation in flexible printed circuit and flat cable applications. The high surface and volume resistivity minimizes current leakage and provides excellent insulation in wire and cable applications.
Manufactured out of 100% virgin premium grade Everflon FEP resinwith MFI range of 5-10
Best suited for applications where high dielectricperformance is required, such as PCB laminates and wire &cable applications
Grade of choice for protective, decorative, see-through andother applications where visual appearance and clarity areimportant
Meets ASTM D3368 specification for Type I FEP film
Cathay™ FEP Film W Grade(Weldig)
Type W (mechanical grade) film is an ideal economical solution for applications that don’t require high aesthetic standards, such as hot melt adhesive (welding tape) application. FEP W film possesses all physical, mechanical, and thermal properties of FEP S grade, while offering up to 15% savings.
Offers 15-20% cost savings vs.S grade
Perfect economical solution for heat sealing, welding, andother melt adhesive applications that don’t have highaesthetics requirements
Meets ASTM D3368 standards for Type I - general purposeFEP film
Cathay™ FEP Film M Grade(High MW)
M grade film is a translucent film made from high molecular weight resin for applications where high flex life, stress-crack-resistant, and heat seal performance are required. These applications include items such as tank linings and diaphragms.
Offers superior stress-crack resistance and flex enduranceperformance (250,000 cycles MIT test)
Material of choice for chemical tank linings, pump diaphragms and rupture discs
Meets ASTM D3368 standards for Type III FEP film
Cathay™ FEP Film R Grade(Release)
Due to its superior non-stick performance and up to 205°C(400°F) service temperature, FEP is the material of choicein high temperature composite molding
Features high elongation and excellent conformability tocomplex contoured molds
Standard colors include red, violet and white. Custom colorsavailable upon request
Available in a variety of perforated patterns
