Chemical Processing

Everflon™ / Chemical processing

Your process.
Material matters.

Fluoropolymers for the surfaces, connections and flow paths at the heart of chemical processing. Start with the application. Build a material specification around it.

Concept illustration. Not an engineering drawing or an installed project.

01 / Applications

From the flow path.
To the finest detail.

Explore six places to begin a fluoropolymer materials discussion. Match each component to the actual chemical and operating conditions.

01 / Piping & transfer

Make the connection.

Lined piping and transfer tubing for chemical distribution and sampling.

For your brief: Define the fluid mixture, bore, wall, joints and pressure envelope.

02 / Vessels & tanks

Start at the contact surface.

Lining concepts for reactors, storage tanks and other wetted equipment.

For your brief: Review substrate geometry, lining continuity and operating cycles.

03 / Seals & gaskets

Focus on the interface.

PTFE-based sealing components for flanges and other engineered connections.

For your brief: Specify seal geometry, assembly load and static or dynamic duty.

04 / Pumps & valves

Follow every moving part.

Material options for valve components, pump linings and diaphragms.

For your brief: Review motion, wear, pressure cycling and the finished assembly.

05 / Filtration & scrubbing

Look beyond the main line.

Fluoropolymer components in filtration and gas-scrubbing equipment.

For your brief: Define the component role and the required separation or contact duty.

06 / Heat exchange

Consider both sides.

Fluoropolymer components for evaluation in chemical-service heat exchangers.

For your brief: Share both media, thermal duty, wall geometry and differential pressure.

Also consider sensor-wire insulation, thread-sealing tape and application-specific additives when defining the wider plant requirement.

02 / Material selection

The right form.
For the right process.

Three starting points from the Everflon portfolio. These are evaluation candidates; final selection depends on the component and its service conditions.

Molding / Machined parts

PTFE granular resin

Explore molding-powder options for sealing parts and other fabricated components. Discuss the specific grade, forming route and dimensional requirements with your processor.

Melt processing

Everflon™ PFA 403

A candidate for evaluating extruded tubing and molded fluid-handling parts. Request current technical data and assess processing behavior against your component design.

Rotational lining

Everflon™ PFA GS04

Explore PFA powder for rotational molding and lining of hollow equipment. Confirm the current grade designation, specification and lining process with the supplier.

Need another processing route? Ask about FEP, ETFE or PVDF options for your specific component. A resin family alone does not establish chemical compatibility or equipment performance.

03 / Define the duty

The chemical is only
part of the story.

Turn a material inquiry into a usable engineering brief. Bring the full operating picture to the discussion.

Media

List chemical names, concentrations, mixtures and cleaning agents. Describe impurities or changes in composition.

Operating envelope

Share normal and peak temperatures, pressure or vacuum, exposure duration and startup or shutdown conditions.

Component design

Include drawings, wall thickness, mating parts, loading, movement and the planned fabrication route.

Acceptance criteria

State the tests, documentation and acceptance limits your engineering team requires for the finished component.

04 / From specification to evaluation

A clearer brief.
A better starting point.

Align material, fabrication and validation before committing to production.

01

Describe the service.

Send the component drawing and operating conditions. Identify the wetted surfaces and the role of each material.

02

Review the candidate.

Request the current technical data sheet and SDS. Agree on a grade and fabrication approach for evaluation.

03

Validate the part.

Plan relevant testing with the fabricator and engineering team. Assess the finished component, including joints and interfaces, against your criteria.

05 / Chemical processing FAQ

Before you specify.

Are fluoropolymers compatible with every chemical?

No universal compatibility claim should be used for selection. Evaluate the exact grade against the medium, concentration, temperature, pressure and duration of exposure.

How should I choose between PTFE and PFA?

Begin with the required component and manufacturing route. Review molding or melt-processing needs, geometry and service conditions before comparing specific grades.

Can a resin data sheet define the pressure rating of a lined component?

No. A material data sheet describes the material under stated test conditions. The equipment design, fabrication, joints and operating conditions must be assessed for the finished component.

Can I assume a fixed service life for a fluoropolymer lining?

No. Request evidence relevant to the actual equipment, lining construction, exposure and inspection plan. Set replacement and maintenance criteria with the responsible engineering team.

What should I send for a material recommendation?

Provide a drawing, chemical composition, concentration, operating envelope, processing method and test requirements. State whether you need raw resin, a lining material or a finished component.

06 / Start a technical conversation

Bring us your process.
Let’s discuss the material.

Share your application, drawings and operating conditions. Begin a focused materials discussion with Everflon.
