FEP Powder Coating

Optically Clear • Non-Stick • Stress-Crack Resistant

Everflon™ Techyours™
     FEP JP46 Powder Coating Series

Fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) electrostatic spray powder. Engineered for superior melt-flow leveling, optical transparency, continuous 204 °C service, and high-molecular-weight stress-crack barrier protection.

Optical Clarity & Smooth Flow

Unmatched melt-flow characteristics coalesce into an exceptionally smooth, pore-free glossy surface, eliminating drag in chemical fluid transport.

Superior ESCR Toughness

High molecular weight resin chains offer robust Environmental Stress Cracking Resistance (ESCR) and outstanding mechanical property retention after thermal aging.

Low-Energy Non-Stick Release

Superb non-wetting release properties for viscous resins, adhesives, rubber molding, and food-grade heat-sealing dies.

Complex Geometry Wrapping

Narrow particle distribution (27–57 µm) enables uniform deposition on complex parts, small radii, and delicate mesh.

Engineering Grade Portfolio

Everflon™ Techyours™ FEP JP46 Series Grades

Calibrated with standard molecular weight (high melt-flow leveling) and high molecular weight (environmental stress-cracking resistant) variations.

Grade JP46-10 (High Flow)          Smooth Leveling

High Melt-Flow Leveling & High Clarity

Formulated with standard molecular weight and high melt-flow rate. Exceptional auto-leveling capacity yields ultra-smooth pinhole-free surfaces (Ra < 0.20 µm) on thin-film applications.

Key Targets: Complex shape non-stick coatings, wire baskets, high-release thermoforming dies.
Grade JP46-40 (High MW)          Max Stress-Crack Resist

High Molecular Weight ESCR Barrier

Features higher molecular weight providing superior environmental stress cracking resistance and superior retention of elongation and tensile properties after prolonged thermal aging.

Key Targets: Chemical storage vessels, heat exchanger tubes, thick corrosive linings.
Grade JP46-AS (Antistatic Black)          Conductive Dissipative

Conductive Anti-Static Dissipation

Compounded with purified conductive carbon matrix, achieving surface resistivity of 10⁴–10⁶ Ω/sq to safely discharge static electricity in combustible liquid handling.

Key Targets: Explosive chemical transfer lines, solvent mixers, ATEX certified fixtures.
Advanced Long-Bake Curing Technology

An additional 90-minute final bake at 330 °C dramatically enhances intercoat adhesion, film smoothness, chemical permeation barrier, and abrasion resistance.

90-Min / 330 °C Performance Upgrade

Polymer Rheology & Surface Energy

Rapid Melt-Flow & Pin-Hole Elimination

How FEP copolymer chain mobility creates the smoothest, lowest-energy fluoropolymer barrier on complex geometric parts.

Broad Melting Plateau & High Wetting

FEP exhibits a distinct melting transition around 260 °C. The polymer drops significantly in melt viscosity compared to PFA or PTFE, enabling rapid wetting of substrate micro-valleys without entrapping air.

• Completely eliminates orange-peel texture on thin coats

Lowest Surface Energy Non-Stick

Perfluoromethyl side branches produce a surface energy of less than 18 dynes/cm. The non-porous film repels hot sugars, epoxy prepregs, urethane elastomers, and industrial adhesives.

• Extended mold service intervals and minimal cleaning downtime

In-Situ Touch-Up & Thermal Repair

Thanks to thermoplastic true melt-reprocessibility, local scratches and mechanical blemishes can be cleanly excised, re-sprayed with powder, and reflowed locally at 330 °C without recoating the entire vessel.

• Fast localized repairs at 330 °C save maintenance costs

Application Method, Baking Schedules & Repair

Precision shop settings for manual and automated corona electrostatic spray guns.

STEP 01

Grit Blast & Primer Prep

Clean white blast (Ra 3.5–5.0 µm). Spray primer (Everflon™ Primer 420G-7xx series). FEP powder can be applied dry on wet over the primer. Flash off solvents 10 min at 150–170 °C.

STEP 02

Sieving & Conditioning

Pass powder through a 60-mesh (~250 µm) sieve. Apply in dry, conditioned spray booth to avoid contact with moisture. Maintain fluidized bed with vibratory assist.

STEP 03

Electrostatic Spraying

Recommended 25–45 µm per coat. Intermediate coats cure 20–30 min at 330–345 °C. Single layer cures 10–15 min at 380 °C (or 30 min for JP46-40 high MW).

STEP 04

90-Min Long Bake & Touch-Up

Execute a 90-minute final bake at 330 °C to optimize intercoat adhesion, smoothness, and anti-permeation. For localized flaws, cut out defect, touch up with powder spray, and bake at 330 °C.

Indicative Gun Setup (Referenced to Gema OptiFlex Pro / Nordson Encore)
Voltage: 20 – 80 kV (Conductive: high / Complex: lower)
Current: 10 µA (Insulated/complex: 6–10 µA)
Product Supply: 30% – 50%
Air Carrier: 3.0 Nm³/h
Electrode Fluidization: Flat jet @ 0.2 Nm³/h

Industrial Deployment

Engineered for High Release & Chemical Barrier

Proven in composite aerospace tooling, chemical process heat exchangers, and pharmaceutical fluid handling.

🥐

Rubber, Composite & Food Tooling

Ultra-low surface energy release for urethane molding, carbon fiber composite autoclaves, hot rubber curing platens, and industrial bread/pastry dough handling.

🧪

Heat Exchangers & Tubular Bundles

Smooth FEP coatings coat interior/exterior tube surfaces without bridging, preventing fouling, scaling, and aggressive corrosion from acidic condensing steam.
